Five reasons why Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour is amazing

01. The audience was as outrageous as Gaga. I lost count of how many people came to the show dressed either in a Gaga costume or in drag. Before the show started it felt more like a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show than a pop concert. Maybe I’m noticing this because I’ve been to a lot of shows in Atlanta, and I’ve never seen an audience so happy before. Generally crowds in this town are dull and lifeless.

02. Her onstage persona made you think that she had been in the national spotlight for years. In her performances she combines Madonna’s confidence, Cher’s humor, Kylie’s humility, and on top of that she pretty much outperforms every person that rose to international fame in the past decade, save BeyoncĂ©. She also sings every song live, and she also has an incredible live voice. The ticket price is definitely worth it based on that alone.

03. Not a dull moment in the entire show. During the 90-minute set there was not a single quiet moment. Most of the 18 songs were up-tempo and loud, and due to the fact that I was right next to the stage I’m still a little bit deaf. She saved her two ballads, “Speechless” and the acoustic version of “Poker Face” for the middle of the show back to back, and to keep it interesting she broke out a prop gun and started firing into the audience members who were “not enjoying themselves.”

04. The costumes shouldn’t come as a surprise considering she is the most flamboyant pop singer of the past decade, but she pretty much had a new costume or added accessory for nearly every song. My favorite is this gold Cleopatra-meets-Batman piece.

05. The interludes were entertaining and I have to admit one of the best things about the concert. One of the most memorable interludes shows a woman vomiting on Gaga. I think there were about six or seven interludes in the whole show, but my favorite is this:
